Since the launch of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a diverse cast of heroes, and a thrilling plot featuring angels, fiends, and sinister influences increasing in strength within the city.
Warning: Spoilers for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
The third episode concluded with a dramatic pause and revealed the first table of adventurers who will split off from the main group to begin their separate journey, separate from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team consists of the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
Considering an extensive roster, it was clear from the outset that having everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
Hence, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Overture, connecting the personal journeys before branching into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Planners, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
As described by the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for participants who prefer a traditionally charged battle-oriented gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are rare.
Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might seem out of place, but the events of the latest installment make it clear why these particular heroes are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the party understands precisely where to head next after a intense initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose death kicked off the story’s plot—used the enemy for his own means, entering Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the character, and taking all the magical artifacts to auction.
The traitor then settled his debts and escaped to a fortified location in the northern region, beyond the city, with Cyd close behind.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each character has a individual motive to depart Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as the close ally and closest confidant, desires revenge.
- Kattigan has experience in the northern area and cautions that it is a nasty location.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to execute the target and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their status as key figures in House Halovar could help the team reach places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, The fighter vowed a unbreakable promise to The savior for his salvation and will now go with him wherever.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are wanted by the authorities that rule the city for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- Thimble and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and Wicander turned against House Halovar and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- Teor is marked for death by House Halovar.
This leaves them no alternative but to journey toward Timmony in pursuit of the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
Based on the latest episode’s post-show segment, we learn that the warrior group will be absent the following episode, leaving the rest of the participants to assemble the Explorers and Strategists parties.
Viewers can anticipate finding out which players will be in which group in the season’s last Overture episode, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
