World Series Game 7 Attracts 51 Million Viewers Across the US, Canadian and Japanese Regions.

The nail-biting extended clash where the Dodgers beat the Toronto Blue Jays by one run averaged a total 51M watchers in the United States, Canada, and Japanese markets. Major League Baseball stated this represents the most-watched World Series finale after the 1991 edition contest between the Minnesota Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Broadcast Viewership Breakdown

The Saturday memorable game secured over 27 million audience members on Fox Sports networks, its Spanish-language channel and their streaming platforms. According to ratings data, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the week.

It also is the most-watched World Series game since the 2017 edition Game 7 between the Dodgers and Astros, which averaged 29.07 million. This marks a 16% increase over the last Game 7 between the Nationals and Astros, which drew 23.19 million viewers.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game placed fourth, the fourth game was seventh, Game 5 was 8th, and the third game landed in 13th position.

Global Viewership Figures

In Canada, the climactic game averaged over 11 million viewers on Sportsnet and the French TVA Sports channel. This was the highest-rated English-language broadcast in Canada after the 2010 edition Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the final game began at 9 p.m. in the local time zone, it attracted 12 million viewers. This followed last Friday’s sixth game – where World Series MVP Yamamoto gave up a single run in six innings – recorded 13.1 million spectators, making it the most-watched World Series matchup on a sole broadcaster in the country.

Series Averages and Patterns

The full seven-match series averaged 15.71M viewers on the Fox network, a two percent increase from the previous year’s Dodgers-Yankees series. This represents the initial instance since 2015 and ‘16 that the World Series has recorded viewership increases for two straight seasons.

Counting the Game 1 telecast on Univision, the complete American viewership was over 16 million. The total Fall Classic viewership in the Japanese market was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in Canada.

The complete MLB Postseason on Fox and its sister channels drew 8.09 million watchers, an 8% rise over the previous year and Fox’s best playoff ratings after 2017.

Major League Baseball stated that the Fall Classic was televised in 203 nations and regions by forty-four media partners in 16 different tongues.
